Uniting for a Cure: The University of Yamanashi’s Drive for Breakthrough Drug Discovery
創薬に関わる山梨大学・北里大学の特異な研究者を有機的に融合した研究体制を構築し、新しい医薬品の開発拠点を形成したいと考えています。
フロウティラ（Flotilla）とは、本来は小さな艦隊を意味しますが、本事業では各研究チームの強みをいかした強力な小艦隊の集まりを意味しています。この小艦隊が相乗し、微生物資源を基盤として創薬をはじめ、環境、食料、産業応用など多様な分野への貢献を目指します。
University of Yamanashi and Kitasato University have signed a comprehensive partnership agreement to establish a research hub for pharmaceutical development from drug discovery.
“Flotilla" originally refers to a small fleet of ships. In this project, however, it represents a powerful alliance of compact research teams—each bringing its unique strengths to the collective. This flotilla will work in synergy, aiming to leverage microbial resources as a foundation for drug discovery and to contribute across diverse fields such as environmental sustainability, food security, and industrial applications.
研究内容
フロウティラは山梨大学の全学域から研究者が参画した学際的な体制で創薬研究を進めています。本学の特色ある微生物資源の多様性と応用可能性を最大限に活かした創薬・環境分野の研究を展開しています。特に創薬においては、世界に貢献したイベルメクチンのような天然物を主体に、薬剤耐性菌や抗癌剤耐性の癌細胞をターゲットとした創薬展開を行うと同時に、ミクログリア関連の脳疾患に対する研究を加速します。
Flotilla is an interdisciplinary initiative at the University of Yamanashi, where researchers from across all academic domains collaborate to advance drug discovery. By harnessing the university’s rich diversity of microbial resources and their broad potential applications, the project drives innovative research in both pharmaceutical and environmental fields. Especially, in our drug discovery, we focus on natural compounds like ivermectin, which have made significant contributions globally, to develop drugs targeting antibiotic-resistant bacteria including cancer cells resistant to chemotherapy. Simultaneously, we accelerate research on microglia-related brain diseases.
